MOPA Scientific Program
The MOPA Scientific Program is an effort to establish interaction between MOPA members and academia in a structured way. The intent of this program is to foster clear information sharing from the mobile optics industry to academia regarding key challenges and opportunities in that area relevant for academia to address. Conversely, the MOPA Scientific Program offers an opportunity for academia to convey relevant work to an interested community.
The MOPA Scientific Program activities include bi-annual joint workshops, held during OFC and ECOC, where MOPA vendors/operators can propose (long-term) research challenges/opportunities to academia. These panel discussions include invited speakers from academia presenting recent relevant work. Best paper awards are also included at these events.
MOPA Scientific Program Best Paper Award
The MOPA Scientific Program Best Paper Award is given to authors whose innovative ideas could lead to significant breakthroughs, novel technologies, or pioneering concepts in optical communication devices, subsystems, systems, or networks directly related to, or beneficial to mobile networks. This award aims to recognize research that both advances the state of the art and holds substantial potential to shape the future landscape of mobile optics and specifically impacting coming MOPA efforts and deliverables.
The winning paper(s) will be announced bi-annually at the MOPA joint workshops, held during OFC and ECOC, and the authors will receive an invitation to present their work.
Criteria:
- Research papers published in reputable journals or conferences, including regular and postdeadline papers at OFC and ECOC, are eligible for consideration.
- Papers must be authored or co-authored by researchers actively contributing to the fields of optical communication devices, subsystems, systems, or networks.
- Authors may self-nominate or opt-in for the award by indicating their interest by contacting the MOPA Scientific Program.
- For outstanding papers that have not opted in, the MOPA Scientific Program Chairs may directly contact the authors to encourage them to participate in the award consideration.
- Evaluation criteria include:
– Innovation and originality
– Impact on the field
– Technical excellence
– Presentation clarity
